John Williams (Composer)
“So much of what we do is ephemeral and quickly forgotten, even by ourselves, so it’s gratifying to have something you have done linger in people’s memories.”
Reflection- If we are able to be the creator of something that leaves a mark on us and others we can tell ourselves that we have left our mark on the culture of today’s world.
Morgan Freeman (God)
“If you become a star , people are going to go to see you. If you remain an actor, they’re going to go and see the story you’re in.
Reflection- If you prove yourself memorable and talented people will begin to come for you not necessarily for the show, which can drive performers to roll out an even more impactful and memorable performance.
Original Statement- If we can create something that people see as memorable then we will know that we had a lasting impact on someone. People need art in their lives and if we can deliver on that we can be contributors to our modern culture.
“I like movies where you can come back and re-watch them and admire the cinematography 25 years later.” -Rob Zombie
Rob Zombie is not only a musician but a film maker. He loves creating art; Dark art, but- art. He constantly tries to push the limits and go places no one has ever gone before, which is why I adore this quote. He wants to impress the world with his creativity.
Quote two (support)
“I really just do what I like.” -RZ
Rob creates to please himself. He tells stories with his work and shares it with the world. He couldn’t care less if his work is disliked by the general public, the art he makes are creations he is/was incredibly proud of. He will continue to create and produce things he enjoys, and if others like it too, its a win win situation.
“Technology has reached the point where any boob can walk into a studio and with a little Auto-Tuning you can have a hit song. I think it’s pathetic.” -Corey Taylor
Art is something you can look at/watch/listen to and feel the emotion and dedication put into it. Corey is expressing his frustration with people who quickly make something and get more credit than they probably deserve. Some people spend years trying to get recognition for their hard work. It’s almost unfair to people who went over countless obstacles to get less recognition than people who barely tried.
“I write almost all my songs on an acoustic guitar, even if they turn into rock songs, hard rock songs, metal songs, heavy metal songs, really heavy songs… I love writing on an acoustic because I can hear what every string is doing; the vibrations haven’t been combined in a collision of distortion or effects yet.” – CT
This just shows how much Corey loves what he does. He is in love with music. HE loves the art he makes. Love and dedication creates the most beautiful things. People may see Slipknot as a “devil worshiping” band. But not the case.
You’re only given a little spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it.
Robin Williams had a mind full of jokes and silly stories. He knew how to make someone smile even if he was at his worst. Robin wasn’t afraid of his madness he embraced it! He brought his entire self into his acting and his comedy, and thats why Robin Williams is my father in comedy.
I don’t do things for the response or for the controversy. I just live my life.
Rihanna is known for her phenominal voice and outfits, in my opinion the quote is reflecting on her own outrageous carefree personality having gone through drama in the past decade she’s been in the music scene. But she continues to live life as if nobody is watching, and I really admire that.
I believe art can be expressed in many ways, shapes and forms, for there is an art to many things. However, being you and staying grounded in your own self is very important, because once you loose yourself you loose the art. What I get out of these two very talented artists is that self expression whether thats through clothes, music, drama or even a character can make all the difference to carries that weight of a spotlight on their shoulders.
Quote 1: “Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.”
Reflection: Marilyn Monroe is reversing stereotypes and showing people that you don’t have to conform to society to be beautiful or a genius. In her own way she is proving that you don’t have to be what others expect you to be in order to be happy or successful you just have to be okay with yourself and be comfortable with expressing who you are.
Quote 1: “I’m not the kind of person who tries to be cool or trendy, I’m definitely an individual.”
Reflection: Leonardo Dicaprio is showing that even if you are successful and wealthy that you need to stay true to who you are. He has always been the same no matter how successful he got. I believe that is the reason why he has been so successful because he was always himself he didn’t let anybody change him. Being considered “cool” is obviously not what drove him to success it was being true to who he is and never letting go of that.
I believe that art can be expressed in many ways but always staying true to who you are is the key. Once you change for something that is not true to yourself it is no longer art. You can be extremely successful but you are only creating true beautiful art when you don’t lose who are in the process. You should never continue to do something for someone other than yourself. Art is all about staying true to the person you were before you got successful.
Christopher Nolan Quotes
“Every film should have it’s own world a logic and feel to it that expands beyond the exact image that the audience is seeing.”
This quote to me means that every movie should be different in it’s own way with different elements of art in different ways
“I think there are advantages to different scales of film making. You wouldn’t want to do just one thing.”
This quote to me means there are more ways than one to show the art of filmmaking and directing
Hans Zimmer Quotes
“A soundtrack can carry a visual along, be an unforgettable addition to the film and sometimes there is a small moment of something really great, which exists as beautiful music on it’s own merit.”
This quote to me means that the art of instrumental music can be a very important part of a movie
“A good score should have a point of view all of it’s own. It should transcend all that has gone before, stand on it’s own two feet and still serve the movie. A great soundtrack is all about communicating with the audience, but we all try to bring something extra to the movie that is not entirely evident on screen.”
This quote to me means that the art of instrumental music is important and brings a lot to movies
My Artistic Statement:
I think art is a great thing especially the art of instrumental music. And I personally enjoy instrumental music and it is a great part of the art that is music.
The mind is everything. What you think you become.
We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.
Buddha is the founding figure of the religion of buddhism. He is known for being wise and peaceful. He believes in freedom of the mind, and with freedom of the mind comes creativity and all art is is free creativity.
Nothing is fixed or permanent and that change is always possible is the way that buddhists think. We make what we are who we are.
My mother said to me, ‘If you are a soldier, you will become a general. If you are a monk, you will become the Pope.’ Instead, I was a painter, and became Picasso.
Everything you can imagine is real.
Pablo Picasso is a painter, but not any regular painter, he is best known for his creative paintings that are abstract to others but that is his reality. He doesn’t want to live someone else’s reality, he wants to live what he has created for himself.
My overall quote on art:
You are the paintbrush to the artist, then again, you are the artist. Instead of labeling just create, it is never bad, anything you create can be loved by someone else. We always try so hard to be different but really we are all the same. We all have our own perception of art, but we all love some form of a creation.
