Dimebag Darrell & Pablo Picasso

“Music drives you. It wakes you up, it gets you pumped. And, at the end of the day, the correct tune will chill you down.”

-Dimebag Darrell

What he is saying in this quote is that this and all other forms of art can drive your daily life, it can motivate you, and it can attune to your emotions; and Dimebag uses his art to inspire these emotions in others.

“Musicians tend to get bored playing the same thing over and over, so I think it’s natural to experiment.”

-Dimebag Darrell

Dimebag talks about how it’s too common for artists to just follow the status quo of other artists, and not go outside the parameters of what’s popular. Dimebag wasn’t afraid to experiment, and greatly shows us by this one quote alone.

“The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls”

-Pablo Picasso

Pablo believed art should be much more than a pastime, he believed it should be a way to express ourselves and even get a break from the harsh realities of life. On top of this, I also believe this quote means art can help transform our lives from what we perceive as boring into whatever we want it to be.

“Art is the elimination of the unnecessary”

-Pablo Picasso

In this quote, Pablo Picasso is saying that there is no such thing as unnecessary in art. In the art that he did, he believed everything he did was extraordinarily pertinent, no matter if it were on purpose or accident. This is why people say “there are no wrong answers” in art, because in art, when we eliminate all things unnecessary, nothing is wrong.

To me, art is a way to express who you are spiritually, mentally, and physically. Artists that I look up to believe this as well, and people like Dimebag Darrell used his amazing guitar skills to create what he perceived as art; and we all have different perceptions of art like, just as Pablo Picasso said. Art is a beauty that cannot be judged or discriminated against, because it is unique to each person that creates it, art is a truly important form of expression, and has been since the day it was first  created; and I do believe it will continue to be forever.

  1. I agree with almost all of what you said except at the end where you said that art “has been created”. I disagree with that because art is something that has always been; nobody created art, it just exists. Perhaps you’re getting art confused with self expression. Regardless, art is subjective to those who perceive it. In other words, art is what you think art is. Btw, great post and format. Remember to put a period on the inside of the quote. 🙂

  2. Very nice project! I personally am a fan of Pablo Picasso and love his work. There are some slight changes that I would make to it such as using the artists last name in the paragraphs, but other than that I really love what you said about each artist. Great work!

  3. I completely agree with your statement that art will continue on forever, I also believe that art is an incredibly important part of the human race. How we express ourselves to others and how we can experience life. Like you said, nothing is wrong if something is being created. Because even the most complex piece or the most simple it’s all equally important and beautiful, even if it’s not the most traditional piece.

  4. Ryan W. I really liked your artistic statement about how you can express art spiritually, mentally, and physically because i totally feel the same way, there is now limit to art. Also how art is a beauty that cannot be judged because of how unique art is to one another.

  5. I love how you explained your own ideas on art i feel the same way.To me art is also something that can never be judged as is just beautiful in every way.I also love your first quote by dime bag it really speaks to me i totally agree that music/art motivates everyone.-Julie Ryan

  6. I agree with your statement that art will live on forever. I believe this goes with structures, people, and designs. An example of this is the Empire State building or the Effiel Tower.

  7. i agree with this statement. art is undying and will live on. art can be expressed in countless ways and that was thouroughly explained in this statement.
